Blustery beautiful Tuesday

Despite the chilly wetness of the day, the kids and I managed to walk and laugh our way down to Place Bellecour to meet Iris Hammers at the Pignol Cafe - one of the many gastronomical delights in Lyon - here is the current cake in the window:

This car was parked nearby - a big thing here - painting cars and trucks like art....

Iris Pignol treats - pistacio and lemon and chocolate bon bons dusted with divinity...

Harper's lemon tart that Guthrie shared a bit of and not a crumb was left...

Guthrie's strawberry Fraiseur - absolutely perfect, reminded me of my sister Susanne's lovely strawberry cake...

art supply store window...

Hero of the Resistance against the Nazis

Iris and me - fraulein as seen / pictured by Harper and Guthrie at Pignol...

MY IMMACULATE MACRAONS - pistacio, cassis and caramel - intense and rich....

Happy Mother's Day stenciled on the bright and bold and big ONLY LYON sign...

One of my favorite murals in the world, done in 1937 in the Lyon post office...

Pignol's irresistable display of   pastries, tarts and meringues...

Perrache, a god awful 1970s train station that must have wiped out a huge gorgeous neighborhood...

Guthrie's abstraction - Pignol wall sconces..

More Resistance Heroes notes / memorialized, at the same post office with the mural...

George Rousse exhibition at the Confluence....mostly photos of his spectaculat optical illusions of architecture, space. photography, light, abandoned places....but I trust this is also his - a suspended and slowly spinning halo....

Street advretising for a festival....

Table surface at Pignol - magical!

more delicious Pignol

We saw the new X-Men movie in original version in the most comfortable seat the the cinema at the new Confluence mall, after crepes with smoked salmon, creme fraiche and chives and a sweet one with butter and sugar! I am in vacation heaven.
